2013 WNBA Draft Results

The 2013 WNBA Draft concluded in Bristol, Connecticut on April 15th, with a new wave of WNBA stars entering the league. The draft will of course be headlined by Brittney Griner, the most talented player in women’s college basketball over the last few years. Below are the results of the first round of the 2013 WNBA Draft.

Pick Player Position Team College/Club
1 Brittney Griner C Phoenix Mercury Baylor
2 Elena Della Donne G/F Chicago Sky Delaware
3 Skylar Diggins G Tulsa Shock Notre Dame
4 Tayler Hill G Washington Mystics Ohio State
5 Kelsey Bone C New York Liberty Texas A&M
6 Tianna Hawkins F Seattle Storm Maryland
7 Toni Young F New York Liberty Oklahoma State
8 Kayla Alexander C San Antonio Silver Stars Syracuse
9 Layshia Clarendon G Indiana Fever California
10 A’dia Mathies G Los Angeles Sparks Kentucky
11 Kelly Faris G Connecticut Sun Connecticut
12 Lindsey Moore G Minnesota Lynx Nebraska

Griner will headline this draft class, but do not sleep on the very talented Skylar Diggins. Diggins was a four-year star at Notre Dame, who rapper Lil Wayne is a huge fan of. Fans who followed Kelly Farris at UConn, now just have to buy Connecticut Sun tickets to watch their favorite Huskie kill it in the WNBA. The WNBA should be excited about the new talent that is coming into the league from this draft.
