Well, the force was definitely awoken. The Star Wars filmography added the long-anticipated seventh film to their series in Episode VII, the first movie in 10 years and the first since Disney bought Lucasfilm. Behind Star Wars was the reboot of the legendary Jurassic Park series and the sequel to Marvel’s Avengers. Almost every single one of the top 10 grossing movies of 2015 was either part of a series, a spinoff, or a book. The only original movie was Disney/Pixar’s Inside Out. Here is the full list of the highest grossing movies of the year along with their box office figures.
