The Oilers host the Avalanche in a matchup that Edmonton started to dominate at the beginning. At the end of the 1st period, the Oilers were up 3-0 and looked to be cruising to a win. But a great effort from the Avalanche allowed them to tie it up as they scored 2 goals in the 2nd period and 1 goal in the 3rd period. Just as they seemed to be coming back to force OT or even win, Edmonton was able to come through with a clutch goal in the 3rd to win it 4-3. The final goal was scored by Derek Roy who was the 1st star of the night. Alex Tanguay had a good game for the Avalanche as he scored 1 goal and assisted on another and was the 2nd star of the night as the Avalanche lose a heartbreaker.
