Blake Shelton Details

Blake Shelton

Fans of both country music and popular singing competition, The Voice, can identify with Blake Shelton through his meaningful music and bubbly, easygoing personality. That personality carries over to his performances and tours, engaging fans and demonstrating hat he truly loves what he’s doing. Shelton has been breaking records since his start in Nashville at a young age and has stayed relevant for nearly twenty years.

Blake Shelton developed a love for music at an early age. His parents claim he would constantly sing as he wandered around the house or helped his parents with chores. When he was 12 Blake was taught by his uncle how to play guitar, and by the age of 15 had written his first song. Only a year later Blake won his first award, the Denbo Diamond Award, for his talent. Upon graduating high school , Blake Shelton packed his bags and moved to Nashville, securing a job at a music publishing company, in hopes of beginning his music career. Four years later, at the age of 21, Blake Shelton signed a production contract with Sony Music in 1997.

After years of hard work, Shelton was finally signed to Giant Records in 2001. Giant released “Austin” as Blake’s debut single, which spent five weeks at the number one spot on Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. Shortly after the single was released, Giant Records closed and Blake was transferred to Warner Bros. Records. “Austin” received mostly positive reviews and Shelton was credited for his imagination and creativity behind the song. In 2003, Shelton’s second album, The Dreamer was released. The first single off that album, “The Baby” reached and stayed at the number one spot for three weeks. Despite the mediocre success of other singles off the album, Shelton earned his second gold certification from the RIAA.

Shelton wasted no time with his next album. He released Blake Shelton’s Bar & Grille in early 2004 and with that the single “Some Beach”, which quickly rose to chart topper status and stayed there for four weeks. Unlike the third album, other singles, “Nobody But Me” and “Goodbye Time” (a Conway Twitty cover) breached the top 10 position.

2007 was a huge year for Shelton, he co-produced his fourth album, Pure BS, and began making appearances on various TV shows, including Nashville Star. When the album was released in 2008 it produced the number one single, “Home” (a Michael Buble cover). Following that Shelton released the debut single for his fifth album, Startin’ Fires. “She Wouldn’t Be Gone” marked the first time he had two consecutive number 1 hits. Shelton released two more albums and five more singles before 2010 before producing his first greatest hits album, Loaded: The Best of Blake Shelton. Later that year, Shelton received the highest of all country music honors when he was asked to join The Grand Ole Oprey. To top off the incredible year, Shelton performed at the American Country Awards and won the award for Male Vocalist of The Year.

In 2011 Shelton released the album Red River Blue and the debut single off the album, “Honey Bee”, earned gold certification in just seven weeks, setting the record for the fastest gold certification by a male country singer. This album produced Shelton’s 7th consecutive number 1 hit and his 12th number one hit of his career. That year, Blake premiered as a judge on season 1 of The Voice and has since been on the show every season, as the most winning judge.

Shelton released his eighth studio album, Based on A True Story… in 2013. That album debuted at number 1 and produced produced four number one hits, earning Shelton a record-breaking 11 consecutive number one hits. That year, Blake also received the Gene Weed Special Achievement Award for his role as a coach on The Voice at the Academy of Country Music Awards. In support of his newest album, Shelton embarked on the Ten Times Crazier tour and toured from May through October of that year.

In 2014 Shelton released Bringing Back the Sunshine which also produced four number 1 hits, including “Sangria” and “Neon Lights”. Throughout 2015 Shelton remained in the spotlight for both good press and bad, shortly after announcing his split from country superstar Miranda Lambert, Shelton won season seven of The Voice, and released his second greatest hits album. With the recent release of single, “Came Here to Forget”, and the highly anticipated release of If I’m Honest fans are assured Blake Shelton will continue to produce quality tracks and content. This Oklahoma boy has definitely left an impression on Nashville and those who love his music. Country and pop fans alike will definitely have a great time at this show!
