The ink is still drying on Billy Joel‘s unprecedented deal with Madison Square Garden. Beginning in January, the icon will play the NYC arena once every month until, essentially, he dies. MSG is promoting the extended residency as a new “franchise,” which actually isn’t too far off— Billy Joel has played over 40 shows there in his career, including a record 12 sell-outs in a row in 2006.

Billy Joel Plans Unprecedented Residency at Madison Square Garden

Billy Joel has recently been playing shows sporadically, despite 20 years between now and his last proper studio album. Time will tell just how long the demand lasts for this event.
