Bruce Springsteen Joins the Rolling Stones at Rock In Rio Festival

As far as all-star collabs go, it does not get much bigger than this one. Bruce Springsteen surprised fans at Lisbon’s Rock In Rio festival when he crashed The Rolling Stones‘ headlining set. New Jersey’s prodigal son emerged on stage with a guitar and traded verses with Mick Jagger on the Stones’ classic “Tumbling Dice” from Exile On Main Street.

The Boss happened to be on vacation with his family in Lisbon. Rumors began to swirl about an on-stage collaboration when Springsteen’s wife Patti Scialfa posted a #ThrowbackThursday photo of her and Bruce with Jagger to her Instagram account the day of the festival.

This marks the second time Springsteen has joined the Stones on stage. In 2012, he showed up to perform “Tumbling Dice” with the Stones at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. Throughout his career, Springsteen and his E Street Band have made a habit of covering Rolling Stones songs. It seems that the admiration is mutual.
