One of the most consistent and respected acts of the past 20 years is shaking off the rust and gearing-up to hit the road again this May. Built to Spill has endured the constantly shifting world of rock music, and still remain a relevant part of the conversation. While we wait patiently for a new album, though, the glorious promise of live music will have to tide us over.

The Doug Martsch-fronted rockers helped define the sounds of your favorite indie rock band (does “indie rock” even mean anything, anymore?), all without the bombast of Nirvana or the artistic intensity of Radiohead. On any given year, you can still hear their signature shredding guitars live, despite the fact that they haven’t released a record since 2009. As rumors of a new LP float their way throughout the internet, the concert-spoiled folks of NYC will have three chances to see Built to Spill live, in addition to a few other lucky locales.
