Coachella tickets have been available for a few week, but the promotor has just announced the long awaited 2016 lineup – with a few surprises. Sure, some stalwarts like Calvin Harris, Ellie Goulding, Sia and Disclosure might have been expected. What wasn’t expected? The reunion of Guns N’ Roses (though that secret might’ve been revealed prematurely) and LCD Soundsystem. Neither band has performed together in years.
So what does this mean? Coachella has the power (and money) to end old spats between Axl Rose and Slash and push James Murphy away from his other projects. In fact, Guns N’ Roses will continue to perform after their appearance in Coachella. It has been rumored that LCD Soundsystem will be doing the same. Since 2011, fans have bemoaned the end of LCD, but their Coachella performance and new 2016 album may breath new life into the band. It’s a sign that LCD may be getting back together for real. We’ll be awaiting reunion tour dates shortly.
New voices like Alessia Cara will also be taking the stage, as well as artists ranging from country to jazz. Other festival favorites to check out include Major Lazer, CHVRCHES, Sufjan Stevens, Jack Ü, Of Monsters and Men, Gary Clark JR., and Cold War Kids. Everything will be taking place in Indio, California, on April 15-17 and April 22-24. Coachella tickets have always sold-out in the past, so act quickly and don’t miss any of the action.
