The Cowboys have been to the NIT eight times in school history. They advanced to Madison Square Garden in 1986 where they won in the semifinals before losing to Ohio State in the Championship Game. They have also been to the four times, making it to the quarterfinals twice.
The Arena-Auditorium opened in 1982 and it holds over 15,000 fans for the Cowboys games. There are no bad seats and you’ll enjoy all your favorite concession items such as Polish sausages, hot dogs, pretzels, nachos and more while you watch a great college basketball game. If you like it loud at a basketball game, then this is the place for you. The students and fans are rowdy and loud and they like to give the Cowboys a great home court advantage.
Wyoming is part of the Mountain West Conference, one of college basketball’s best. Teams such as Air Force, Boise State, Fresno State, Colorado State, Nevada, UNLV, New Mexico, San Diego State, San Jose State and Utah State. These teams will be trying to get to the NCAA Tournament by either winning the MWC Tournament or by impressing the NCAA Selection Committee to earn an at-large bid. Some of them will be successful. You can see these teams before the rest of the nation sees them at the Big Dance!
