College Stadium Review: Athletics Center O’rena

The Oakland Grizzlies have been to the NCAA Tournament three times (2005, 2010 and 2011). They have also been to the CIT four times (2009, 2012, 2013 and 2015), advancing to the semifinals. The Golden Grizzlies are being coached by Greg Kampe who is in his 31st year at the helm.

Oakland plays at the Athletics Center O’rena, which opened in 1998, and seats a little over 4000 fans.

Oakland plays at the Athletics Center O’rena, which opened in 1998, and seats a little over 4000 fans. Every seat is a great view of the court and you will enjoy your favorite concession items such as sausages, hot dogs, pizza slices and more. The atmosphere is fantastic for college basketball with the students and pep band seated directly behind the opponent’s bench. They create quite a home court advantage, keeping the noise level high.
Oakland plays in the Horizon League, which includes Cleveland State, Detroit, Green Bay, Milwaukee, Northern Kentucky, Illinois Chicago, Valparaiso, Wright State and Youngstown State. These teams will be trying to get to the NCAA Tournament by winning the Horizon Tournament and getting the automatic bid. But they will also be trying to win the regular season which also comes with an automatic postseason berth. So the action will be intense at the Golden Grizzlies games all season long.
You will not want to miss out on the great Horizon League action this season.  Golden Grizzlies basketball is great for the whole family. Bring your kids out to the Athletics Center O’rena this season for Oakland University basketball.
