College Stadium Review: Bartow Arena

The UAB Blazers have a long winning tradition in basketball. They have been to the NCAA Tournament 15 times. Seven times they have advanced to the Round of 32, three times they made it to the Sweet Sixteen (1981,1982 and 2004) and in 1982 they went to the Elite Eight. Their greatest win was in the 2004 NCAA Tournament when they knocked off #1 ranked Kentucky in the Round of 32.

Bartow Arena

Bartow Arena has been a huge home court advantage over the years for the Blazers as they have won nearly 80% of the games played there.

 

The Blazers have been to 11 times and have a 14-11 record in the tournament. Twice they have been to Madison Square Garden (1989 and 1993) and in 2010 they went to the quarterfinals.
UAB plays at the Bartow Arena, which opened in 1988 and seats over 8500 fans. None of the seats are bad ones and you will enjoy a great view while also enjoying your favorites from the concession stand such as hot dogs, pizza, sausages, pretzels and more while taking in a great game.

UAB is part of Conference USA, which includes FAU, FIU, Louisiana Tech, Marshall, Middle Tennessee State, UNC Charlotte, North Texas, Old Dominion, Rice, Southern Mississippi, UTEP, UTSA and Western Kentucky. These teams will be trying to win the C-USA Tournament to gain the automatic bid to the Big Dance, but also they will be trying to win the regular season championship to earn a postseason berth to one of the other tournaments. So the action will be intense all season long.
