College Stadium Review: Bud Walton Arena

The Arkansas Razorbacks basketball program is one of college basketball’s best. The 1994 National Champions, the Hogs boast one of the elite programs in the powerful SEC. Arkansas has played in back to back National Championship games in 1994 and 1995 to go along with six trips to the Final Four, nine Sweet Sixteens and 30 appearances in the NCAA Tournament.

Bud Walton Arena

The Bud Walton Arena is one of the premier college basketball venues in the nation.

The Razorbacks play their home games at Bud Walton Arena which holds over 19,000 Hogs fans who love to yell loudly and do the famous “WOOOOOO PIG SOOIE!” chant all throughout the game. The noise inside Bud Walton Arena is deafening to the Hogs opponents and gives the college basketball fan attending the games there one of the greatest experiences in the game.

Kentucky is the number one basketball program in the SEC without a doubt. Arkansas makes a compelling case along with Florida for the number two spot. The Hogs have had success spread out over a longer period than the Gators with their first Final Four trip coming some 54 years before Florida’s.

Arkansas has sent many players on to the NBA such as Joe Kleine, Sidney Moncrief, Scott Hastings, Alvin Robertson, Oliver Miller, Courtney Fortson, Ron Brewer, Corliss Williamson, Joe Johnson, Lee Mayberry, Ronnie Brewer, Todd Day, Bobby Portis and many more.

The Bud Walton Arena is one of the premier college basketball venues in the nation. It opened in 1993, just in time for the Hogs greatest three year run which saw them win the NCAA Tournament in 1994 over Duke in the championship game, get back to the title game in 1995 against UCLA and make it back to the Sweet Sixteen in 1996. During that era, they were coached by Nolan Richardson, who used to substitute quite frequently so his Hogs could play an up tempo style of basketball, wearing down their opponents in the second half. They called this “40 Minutes of Hell” and the Hogs fans screaming all game long at Bud Walton Arena surely helped.

The Hogs are now coached by Mike Anderson, who was an assistant coach at Arkansas during that time and he is bringing that style of play back to the program. The Hogs made it back to the NCAA Tournament in 2015 after not making it to the big Dance since 2008. This year they will be one of the favorites in the SEC to get back there again. Led by Anthlon Bell, Moses Kingsley and Anton Beard, the Hogs will take on the best of the SEC at Bud Walton Arena and you can be there to watch it.

The Arkansas home schedule this season will include games with the likes of Akron, Georgia Tech, Mercer, Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, Kentucky, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Tennessee, Auburn and more. You can enjoy a great game at Bud Walton Arena while taking in the great atmosphere with all of the championship banners hanging from the rafters and the fans “Calling the Hogs.” Enjoy your favorite concession items such as corndogs, nachos, popcorn, hot dogs and your favorites from Chick-Fil-A with some Blue Bunny ice cream for dessert.

Your seats will have a great view of the court and you will enjoy every minute of the great SEC basketball action. Your family will love a game at Bud Walton Arena so do not miss out!
