St. Louis Billikens basketball has a long winning tradition. They have been to the NCAA Tournament nine times, twice advancing to the Sweet Sixteen (1952 and 1957). In five of their last six NCAA Tournament appearances, all since 1995, the Billikens won a game before being eliminated.
The Billikens have been to the NIT 18 times in school history. They won the NIT in 1948, advanced to the Championship Game in 1961, 1989 and 1990 and have advanced to the quarterfinals six other times. They have also been to the CBI in 2010 and advanced to the finals.
The Billikens play their home games at Chaifetz Arena which opened in 2008 and seats over 10,000. There are no bad seats at Chaifetz Arena and you can experience the excitement of Billikens basketball while enjoying you favorite concession items. You can order a burger, hot dog, pretzels, sodas and beer at the Billikens games.
The atmosphere at SLU is great on game day as well. The students and fans make the arena a sea of blue as they cheer on the team. St. Louis fans are among the best and most knowledgeable in sports. They are also among the most friendly, so if you are a fan of the visiting team, do not hesitate to got to the Chaifetz Arena.
The Billikens are a part of the A-10 Conference which is one of the best in collge basketball. Teams such as Davidson, Dayton, Duquesne, Fordham, George Mason, George Washington, LaSalle, UMass, Rhode Island, Richmond, St. Bonaventure, St. Joseph’s and VCU. These teams will be trying to win the A-10 Tournament to automatically qualify for the NCAA Tournament, however if history is any indication, several of them will make it to the Big Dance.
