The Army Black Knights play their home basketball games at Christl Arena on the West Point Military Academy campus. Opening in 1985, Christl Arena holds over 5000 fans for Army home games.
Army is more known for its football program than basketball, but two of the giants of the game got started at West Point. Mike Krzyzewski played point guard for a young coach named Bobby Knight at West Point. These two went on to win nearly 2000 games and eight NCAA Tournaments.
Army plays in the Patriot League with Navy, American U, Boston U, Bucknell, Colgate, Cornell, Lafayette and Lehigh. These schools are not basketball factories, churning out players to the NBA and other pro leagues. These players are college students who play basketball and then go on to defend our country, become officers and later leaders in our nation.
You can enjoy college athletics the way they were meant to be, a game with school pride, teamwork and the joy of winning on the line, not a future signing bonus. Enjoy a game from Christl Arena this season and cheer on the Army basketball team. When you watch the Black Knights, you are not just cheering on a school, you are cheering on your country. You could be watching a future President or even a future championship winning coach like those who were watching the two “Coach Ks” back in the day.
