College Stadium Review: Ford Center

The Evansville Purples Aces basketball team has been to five NCAA Tournaments in their school history, which includes five D-II National Championships won between 1959 and 1971. In 1977, the entire program of players and coaching staff was killed in a plane crash en route to a game. To go from there to an NCAA Tournament bid five years later is truly amazing. Evansville has also been to the NIT twice, the CIT including last season when they won the tournament, and the CBI twice.

Ford Center

Evansville plays in the Missouri Valley Conference, which includes many great college basketball teams such as Bradley, Indiana State, Wichita State, Missouri State, Loyola-Chicago, Northern Iowa, Southern Illinois, and Drake.

The Aces play their home games at the Ford Center, which opened in 2011. The Ford Center holds 10,000 fans in this college basketball mad state of Indiana. This is a modern, state of the art facility with luxury boxes, club level seating and all the other amenities associated with modern arenas.
This is an up and coming program, so the sky’s the limit. They have the Ford Center, the great student and alumni fan base and the location in southern Indiana to build a basketball powerhouse.
Now they must deliver on the court. Will this be the year the Purple Aces get back to the Big Dance? Come to the Ford Center this season and find out. Enjoy a great selection of concession items such as baklava, gyros, ice cream, and the standard items such as popcorn and hot dogs while you sit in a plush new arena to watch great college hoops action.
