The Cal Golden Bears basketball team has a long winning tradition in the PAC 12 Conference. Stars like Jason Kidd and Kevin Johnson played at Cal before going on to NBA stardom. Both of those players also went on to successful post NBA careers as Johnson is now the Mayor of Sacramento and Kidd is head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Golden Bears have been to the NCAA Tournament 18 times (although the 1996 appearance was later vacated) advancing as far as the Final Four three times, the National Championship Game twice and winning the National Championship in 1959.
The Haas Pavilion has been the Bears home since 1933. In its current configuration it holds nearly 12,000 Bears fans for home games. The atmosphere at Haas Arena is one of the Pac 12’s best with a pregame party complete with a beer garden. There are also many banners and memorabilia from just about every Cal sport posted on the concourse level including the 1938 Rose Bowl win over Alabama.
Once inside, you can enjoy concession faves such as pulled pork sandwiches, jerk chicken sandwiches and BBQ nachos while watching the great basketball action.
The PAC 12 is one of the nation’s premier basketball conferences which means the Bears home schedule will include giants of the game such as UCLA, Arizona, Oregon, Stanford, Utah, Colorado, USC, and Washington among others.
The Cal Golden Bears will be trying to get to the NCAA Tournament this season under second year coach Cuonzo Martin. It would be their first trip back to the Big Dance since 2013.
