The Iowa State Cyclones have been to the NCAA Tournament 17 times in their history. They have advanced to the Round of 32 ten times and have been to the Sweet Sixteen four times, the Elite Eight twice, and the Final Four one time in 1944. In 2016 the Cyclones will be trying to make it to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth year in a row.
The Cyclones have played in the NIT three times including 2004 when they made it to the semifinals in Madison Square Garden. Some of the greats to play for Iowa State include Jeff Hornacek, Sam Hill, Fred Hoiberg, Loren Meyer, Kelvin Cato, Royce White, and many more former NBA players. Hilton Coliseum opened in 1971 and it seats nearly 15,000 fans for Cyclones games. Every seat has a great view of the court as you enjoy your favorites from the concession stands such as tacos, pulled pork sandwiches, nachos, pizza chicken sandwiches, bottomless sodas and more.
Iowa State plays in the Big 12 Conference which is one of college basketball’s elite conferences. This season, the Cyclones will host Chattanooga, Chicago State, North Dakota State, Buffalo, Iowa, Arkansas Pine Bluff, Texas Tech, Baylor, Oklahoma, Kansas, West Virginia, Texas, TCU, Kansas State, Oklahoma State and more.
