The San Diego Toreros basketball team has been to the NCAA Tournament four times in school history (1984, 1987, 2003, and 2008). In 2008, the Toreros advanced to the Round of 32 with a win over national powerhouse UConn 70-69. That is the biggest win in program history thus far.
The Toreros have also been to the CIT in 2014 where they advanced to the quarterfinals after beating both Portland State and Sam Houston State. Can the Toreros get back to the postseason in 2016? Come out to the Jenny Craig Pavilion and find out.
The JCP…a.k.a “The Slim Gym,” opened in 2000 and seats 5000 fans for the Toreros basketball team. As you might expect, you will not only enjoy your favorite concession items such as hot dogs, popcorn, pretzels, churros and more, but there is also a fine selection of diet friendly items such as salads, parfait, fruit and water.
The atmosphere for college basketball is great at the JCP as well. The Toreros students keep the noise level high to give their team a home court advantage. The Toreros play in the West Coast Conference, which includes some of the great college basketball programs such as BYU, Gonzaga, Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine, Portland, St. Mary’s, San Francisco and Santa Clara. These teams will be trying to win the WCC Tournament to get the automatic NCAA bid, but some of them will likely get at-large bids to the Big Dance.
You will not want to miss out on any of the great college basketball action at the Jenny Craig Pavilion this season.
