The Chicago State Cougars basketball team plays their home game at Jones Convocation Center which opened in 2007. It holds 7000 college basketball fans who come to root on their Cougars. The Jones Convocation Center might be the nicest college basketball arena in the city of Chicago. Although it is close to a decade old, it still looks and feels brand new.
The Cougars compete in the WAC Conference which sends its Tournament Champion to the NCAA Tournament. The Cougars won their conference tournament in 2013, but the Great West Champion that year earned an automatic bid to the CIT. Many of those same teams are now in the WAC, so the Cougars certainly have a good shot at winning the NCAA Tournament berth, which would be their first in school history.
So you can get in on the ground floor of a new program reaching new heights in a new arena. In 10 or 20 years, the Cougars might become the next great college basketball program in the Chicago area and everyone will be on the bandwagon. You can say you were there already back when almost nobody has ever heard of them.
There is something exciting about watching a program grow into a contender. It’s like watching your kids get older. Every time they accomplish something it’s great to see them get excited about it. You can get in on this with the Cougars. Watch them get their first NCAA Tournament bid. Watch them land their first big recruit. Watch their first player reach the NBA. All from the comfort of a nice, comfortable seat near the court.
