The New Orleans Privateers have made four trips to the NCAA Tournament in school history. The most recent trip was in 1996. They have one NCAA Tournament win which was in 1987 when they beat Brigham Young in their first ever NCAA Tournament game.
The Privateers play their home games at the Lakefront Arena, which opened in 1993 and holds nearly 9000 fans for their home games. The arena suffered substantial damage during Hurricane Katrina and remained closed for three years. So it is now a modern arena with new chair back seats, all with a great view of the court. You can enjoy your favorite concession items such as cheeseburgers, pizza, smoked sausages and everyone’s favorite, beer!
New Orleans is part of the Southland Conference, which includes teams like Abilene Christian, Central Arkansas, Houston Baptist, Incarnate Word, Lamar, McNeese State, Nicholls State, Northwestern State,Sam Houston State, SE Louisiana, Stephen F. Austin and Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
These teams will be trying to win the Southland Conference Tournament to try and win the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Can the Privateers do it? Come out to the Lakefront Arena and find out. Bring the whole family out to a Privateers game this season.
