College Stadium Review: Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons have a long winning basketball tradition. They have been to the NCAA Tournament 22 times in their storied history. The Deacons have been to the Sweet Sixteen eight times, the most recent in 1996 and in 1963 they went to the Final Four. Will the Deacons get back to the Big Dance? The Demon Deacons are part of the ACC, which is perhaps the best conference in the game.

Wake Forest has been to the NIT six times (1983, 1985, 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2006). In 2000, the Deacons won the NIT Championship. Some of the greats to have played for Wake Forest include some of the NBA’s best players such as Tim Duncan, Chris Paul, Jeff Teague,  and great college players like Rodney Rogers, Randolph Childress, Muggsy Bogues and more. Are the next great NBA stars on this year’s team?
Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum opened in 1989 and seats 15,000 fans. There are only great seats at the Deacons games and you will enjoy all your favorites from the concession stands such as hot dogs, pretzels, pizzas, burgers and more while you watch a great college basketball game. The fans and students are among the best you will find as college basketball is their game down on Tobacco Road.
