The Columbia Lions have been to three NCAA Tournaments in school history. The most recent trip was in 1968. However, the 2014 Lions team went to the CIT and advanced to the quarterfinal before losing to fellow Ivy League team, Yale 72-69.
That team played #2 ranked Michigan State to a nine-point game. The following season, the Lions played #1 ranked Kentucky to a 10-point game at Rupp Arena.
Levien Gym has been the Lions home since 1974. It holds 3400 fans and students for the Lions home games. The Ivy League doesn’t have a postseason tournament, so to earn the automatic NCAA Tournament bid from the Ivy League; a team has to win the regular season championship. That makes home games at Levien Gym that much more important.
The atmosphere at Lions home game is great! The games often sell out and the students keep the noise level up. It is a great college basketball atmosphere. Levien Gym is a small venue so all the seats are close to the action.
The neighborhood is New York City, so that speaks for itself. After the game you have an unlimited selection of places to go and things to do.
Do not miss out on the Lions basketball season in 2015-16. Could this be the year they get back to the NCAA Tournament? Come to Levien Gym and find out!
