Marist has been to the NCAA Tournament twice in school history, in back to back seasons in 1986 and 1987. The Red Foxes have also been to two NIT Tournaments in 1996 and 2007 when they advanced to the second round. The most famous player to come from Marist would be Rik Smits, the star center of the Indiana Pacers during the Reggie Miller era.
Marist plays their home games at the McCann Arena, which opened in 1977 and seats 3200 fans for Red Foxes home games. The students come out and support the team, keeping the noise level high and the atmosphere fun and exciting. Every seat is close to the court, which means a great view of the action.
You will enjoy your favorite concession items such as popcorn, pretzels, hot dogs, coffee and sodas while taking in the action. The Red Foxes are part of the MAAC, which includes teams such as Canisius, Fairfield, Iona, Manhattan, Monmouth, Niagara, Quinnipiac, Rider, St. Peter’s and Siena. Those teams are trying to win the MAAC Tournament and gain the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament that comes with that. The winner of the regular season championship will also get a bid to the postseason, so the action at McCann Arena will be intense.
Bring the kids to the Red Foxes games this season and have a great time. You do not want to miss out on the action this season.
