The Central Michigan Chippewas basketball team plays in the Mid-American Conference, which has a great college basketball tradition. Central Michigan will be trying to get to the NCAA Tournament this season for the fifth time in school history. Their last trip to the Big Dance was in 2003, the last time they won the MAC Tournament.
In the first four trips to the Big Dance, three times the Chips advanced to the Round of 32. In 1975, they went to the Sweet Sixteen with wins over Georgetown and Oregon State and in 2003 they beat Creighton before losing to Duke.
CMU is the alma mater of several former NBA players such as Thunder Dan Majerle, Dan Roundfield, Ben Poquette and current NBA player Chris Kaman. The Chips play their home games at the McGuirk Arena which opened in 1973 and holds 5300 fans.
Central Michigan fans are good supporters of their team. They fill the stands and are into the game and give the McGuirk Arena an excitement that college basketball is known for. The MAC is very competitive too, which usually means close games that are in doubt all the way to the end.
The Chippewas home schedule will include games against Ball State, Northern Illinois, Buffalo, Miami OH, Ohio, Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan and more. Every seat is a great seat so make sure you order your tickets now! Don’t miss out on exciting Central Michigan basketball at McGuirk Arena as the Chips try to get back to the NCAA Tournament.
