College Stadium Review: Michael J. Hagan Arena

The St. Joseph’s Hawks have a long winning tradition. They have been to the NCAA Tournament 20 times in school history. Of those 20 trips, they have been to the Sweet Sixteen seven times, the most recent in 2004. The Hawks have been to the Elite Eight three times (1961, 1981 and 2004) and the Final Four in 1961.

Many of these teams will be dancing in March at the NCAA Tournament, either by winning the A-10 Tournament or by winning enough games to earn an at-large bid

The Hawks have been to the NIT 16 times as well. They have been to the semifinals at Madison Square Garden three times, twice advancing to the Championship Game. Some of the great players to play for St. Joseph’s include Jameer Nelson, Delonte West, Matt Guokas, Jim Lynam, Cliff Anderson and many more pros.
Michael J. Hagan Arena opened in 2009 and seats over 4000 fans. It is a nice modern arena in a city where old classic gyms such as the Palestra are so well known. While the old gyms are great for taking in classic Big 5 rivalry games between LaSalle, Temple, Villanova, and Penn, it is nice to sit an watch college basketball in a new arena. The sets are comfortable, the sight lines are spectacular and the the scoreboards are awesome. You can enjoy your favorites from the concession stands such as pizza, hot dogs, popcorn, sodas and more while checking out the great college basketball game.

St. Joseph’s is part of the A-10 Conference, one of the best in college basketball. It includes teams such as Davidson, Dayton, Duquesne, Fordham, George Mason, George Washington, LaSalle, UMass, Rhode Island, Richmond, St. Bonaventure, St. Louis and VCU. Many of these teams will be dancing in March at the NCAA Tournament, either by winning the A-10 Tournament or by winning enough games to earn an at-large bid.

Come out to Micheal J Hagan Arena and see these teams before the rest of the country sees them in the NCAA Tournament.
