The South Alabama Jaguars have been to the NCAA Tournament eight times inn their history. Their best showing was in 1989 when they made it to the Round of 32 after beating Alabama 86-84. They lost in the second round to eventual National Champion Michigan 91-82.
The Jags have been to the NIT four times. In 1986, they advanced to the quarterfinals after beating Texas-Arlington and then Georgia. In 1984, they advanced to the second round after knocking off Florida I the first round. The Jags went to the CIT in 2013, losing in the first round. Can they get back to the postseason for the first time since that year? Come out to the Mitchell Center and find out.
The Mitchell Center opened in 1998. It has over 10,000 seats and all of them have a great view of the court. You will love going to the Jags games and enjoy your favorite concession items such as popcorn, hot dogs and beer. Yes, you can get beer at the South Alabama games!
The Jags play in the Sun Belt Conference, which includes teams like Appalachian State, Arkansas State, UA-Little Rock, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, UL-Lafayette, UL-Monroe, Texas State, UT-Arlington and Troy. These teams will be trying to get to the NCAA Tournament by winning the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. They will also be trying to get to the postseason by winning the regular season championship. The action will be intense at the Mitchell Center all season long.
