The Lamar Cardinals have been to the NCAA Tournament six times in school history, the most recent in 2012. The Cardinals have been to the Round of 32 four times and made it to the Sweet Sixteen in 1980. Lamar has been to the NIT  four times, advancing to the second round twice.

Montagne Center

The games will be intense at the Montagne Center this season.

The Montagne Center opened in 1984 and seats over 10,000 fans for Cardinals games in Beaumont. If you want to watch a game from a comfortable chair backed seat in a nice arena and sit near the court, the this is your place. This looks like a modern day college basketball facility even though it is over 30 years old.
You will enjoy your favorite concession items such as hot dogs, nachos popcorn, and pretzels while you watch from a great seat. Bring all your friends and family to the game with you as there is rarely a problem with getting tickets to the Cardinals games.
The Cardinals play in the Southland Conference with teams such as Abilene Christian, Central Arkansas, Houston Baptist, Incarnate Word, McNeese State, New Orleans, Nicholls State, Northwestern State, Sam Houston State, SE Louisiana, Stephen F. Austin and Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
These teams will be trying to win the Southland Conference Tournament to earn the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, but also win the regular season championship which will also come with a postseason berth. So the games will be intense at the Montagne Center this season. Come out and enjoy some Cardinals basketball.
