The Rockets have been to the NIT eight times in their history. They advanced to the championship game in 1943 and the semifinals in 1942. The most recent trip was in 2014. The Rockets have also bee the the CIT in 2012 when they advanced to the second round.
The Rockets have been playing at Savage Arena since 1976. Savage Arena holds 7300 Rockets fans for their home games. There are no bad seats at Savage Arena and you can enjoy all your favorite concession items such as brats, hot dogs, chicken tenders, grilled chicken, pizza and a great selection of beers! You should come to the Rockets games hungry because you’ll have a tough time beating their food selection at any college basketball venue.
The Rockets are part of the very competitive Mid American Conference. Teams such as Akron, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Kent State, Miami OH, Ohio U, Ball State, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan, and Northern Illinois will be on the Rockets schedule, many of them at home. These teams will be trying to win the automatic NCAA Tournament bid by winning the MAC Tournament. They will also be trying to get the automatic postseason berth to one of the other tournaments by win the conference regular season title. So the action at the Savage Arena will be intense all season.
