The Furman Paladins basketball team has been to the NCAA Tournament six times in their school history. All of them came between the years 1971 and 1980. In 1974 the Paladins made it to the Sweet Sixteen with a win over South Carolina before losing to Pittsburgh. Furman also has a NIT appearance in 1991 and a CIT bid in 2011.
The Paladins play their home games at Timmons Arena, which opened in 1998. Timmons Arena seats 3500 purple clad Paladins fans for home games. The students are loud and make this a great college basketball environment as they cheer for the home team. Every seat at Timmons Arena is close to the action, so you will have a great view while you watch the game and enjoy your favorite concessions such as pizza, burgers, nachos, hot dogs and Pepsi products.
Furman is part of the Southern Conference, which includes teams such as the Citadel, Chattanooga, East Tennessee State, Mercer, Samford, UNC Greensboro, VMI, Western Carolina and Wofford.
These teams will be trying to get the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament by winning the Southern Conference Tournament, but also will be trying to win the regular season and securing at least an automatic NIT berth.
Don’t miss any of the great college basketball action at Timmons Arena this season! Bring the kids out for a fun day of college basketball!
