College Stadium Review: Tom Gola Arena

The LaSalle Explorers have been to the NCAA Tournament 12 times in their history, the most recent in 2013 when they made it to the Sweet Sixteen. The Explorers have been to the Round of 32 five times, three Sweet Sixteens, two Final Fours, and won the NCAA Tournament in 1954. They have been to the NIT 12 times, winning the championship in 1952 and making it to the Championship Game in 1987.

The Explorers have sent many players to the NBA such as Joe Bryant (father of Kobe), Tom Gola, Tim Legler, Gary Neal, and many more.

LaSalle plays their home games at Tom Gola Arena, named after the Hall of Famer who led the team to both their NCAA Tournament and NIT Championships. It opened in 1998 and holds 2,500 fans. Every seat will be close to the action and you will have a great time as you enjoy your favorite concession items such as hot dogs, pizza, nachos, popcorn, pretzels, and Coke products.

LaSalle plays in the Atlantic 10 Conference, which is one of the best of the “mid-majors” in D-I college basketball. These teams include Davidson, Dayton, Duquesne, Fordham, George Mason, George Washington, UMass, Rhode Island, Richmond, St. Bonaventure, St. Joseph’s, St. Louis and VCU.

There have been a lot of great NCAA runs among those teams in recent seasons, including VCU going to the Final Four in 2011 and George Mason going to Final Four in 2006 along with LaSalle’s Sweet Sixteen in 2013.
