Valparaiso has been to the NCAA Tournament nine times in school history, all of them since 1996. In 1998, Valpo pulled off a pair of shockers when they knocked off Ole Miss in the first round on a buzzer beater by current head coach Bryce Drew and an overtime win over Florida State in the Round of 32. They lost to Rhode Island in the Sweet Sixteen, their best NCAA Tournament showing.
The Crusaders have been to the NIT twice (2003 and 2012), the CBI (2008) and the CIT twice (2011 and 2014). Will the Crusaders get back to the postseason in 2016? Come out to the Athletics-Recreation Center this season and find out!
The ARC opened in 1984 and seats 5000 fans. There are no bad seats at the ARC and you’ll enjoy a great view with your favorite concession items such as pizza, burgers, BBQ chicken, nachos, popcorn and more. The students and fans keep the atmosphere at a high level in this basketball crazed state of Indiana. There is no better place to watch basketball than in the Hoosier State and the ARC is a prime example.
Valpo plays in the Horizon League, which includes teams such as Cleveland State, Detroit, Green Bay, Milwaukee, Northern Kentucky, Oakland, UIC, Wright State and Youngstown State. These teams will be trying to get to the NCAA Tournament by winning the Horizon League Tournament at season’s end. They will also try to win the regular season championship which also includes an automatic postseason bid. So the action will be intense all season long when these teams come to the ARC.
You don’t want to miss out on the great college basketball action this season at the Crusaders games.
