The Wildcats have been to the NIT seven times, their best showing being in 2011 when they made it to the quarterfinals. The Wildcats have not won a conference championship since 1933. They have only had only one .500 season in Big Ten play since 1960. Will they be able to break that streak this year?
The Welsh-Ryan Arena opened in 1952 and seats over 8000 Wildcats fans. Every seat is close to the court where you will see some great teams come into play Northwestern. The Wildcats play in the Big Ten Conference, which is perhaps the best in college basketball. The Wildcats home schedule includes teams such as UMass Lowell, Fairfield, Columbia, New Orleans, SIU Edwardsville, Chicago State, Sacred Heart, Loyola MD, Maryland, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Penn State, Michigan State, Minnesota, Illinois, Rutgers and Nebraska. You would be hard pressed to find a better home schedule than this one.
