The Lobos play their home games at the WisePies Arena, more affectionately known as “The Pit.” This is the arena where the 1983 Final Four was played, which is the year the North Carolina State Wolfpack shocked the world by beating the Houston Cougars in the championship game. Sports Illustrated named it one of its Top 20 venues to watch a game in all of sports! This place is one of college basketball’s loudest arenas and the Lobos fans really come out to support them.
Every seat has a great view in the 15,000 seat WisePies Arena. You will enjoy all your favorite concessions such as cheeseburgers, pulled pork sandwiches, ultimate nachos and more while watching college basketball in one of the game’s greatest venues.
The Lobos are part of the Mountain West Conference which includes teams such as Air Force, Boise State, Fresno State, Colorado State, Nevada, San Diego State, San Jose State, Utah State and Wyoming.
These teams will be trying to win the MWC Tournament to get the automatic NCAA Tournament bid from the MWC, but usually several of them receive at large bids as the reputation of the conference as a great basketball league merits several invites.
Do not miss out on a chance to go see a game at The Pit. You can almost see Jim Valvano running around on the floor looking for someone to hug! Bring the kids out to some Lobos games this season.
