St. Peter’s has made three NCAA Tournament appearances in their history (1991, 1995 and 2011). They were eliminated in their opening game in all three. Will 2016 be the year the Peacocks finally win a game in the Big Dance? Come out to the Yanitelli Center this season and see what they’ve got.
The Peacocks have been to the NIT Tournament 12 times, winning five games in the tournament. In 1968, the Peacocks advanced all the way to the semifinals at Madison Square Garden when they knocked off Duke in the quarterfinals.
The Peacocks have been playing in Yanitelli Center since 1975. The old arena holds 3500 fans for the Peacocks games. Every seat in the house has a great view of the court and you can enjoy your favorite concession items such as candy, pretzels and sodas while watch the game. This is old school, no frills college basketball, so be sure to bring a seat cushion with you.
The Peacocks are part of the MAAC which includes Canisius, Fairfield, Iona, Manhattan, Marist, Monmouth, Niagara, Quinnipiac, Rider, and Siena. These teams will be trying to win the MAAC Tournament to automatically qualify for the Big Dance. They will also be trying to qualify for a postseason berth in one of the other tournaments by winning the regular season title. So the action will be fierce all season long at the Yanitelli Center.
Be sure to get out to as many games this season as you can. Bring your family out to Peacocks basketball in 2016.
