HBO is putting on one hell of a promotional push for the upcoming season of Game Of Thrones. The premium cable network has been airing a set of “extended trailers” for the show’s fourth season, but the next piece of this campaign is a game changer. In an effort to reach a wider audience, HBO will release a mixtape dedicated to its hit series later this month.
Hip-Hop Meets ‘Game Of Thrones’ On New Mixtape
Though it seems like an unorthodox way to promote a fantasy drama set in ancient times, the cutthroat world of Westeros is not so different from the rap game. The tape will be called Catch the Throne and will be distributed via SoundCloud later this month.
Despite bearing a name incredibly close to 2011’s Watch the Throne, there is no indication that Jay Z or Kanye West will be involved with this project. Early reports have confirmed the following artists: Common, Big Boi, Wale, Daddy Yankee, Bodega Bamz, Snow Tha Product and Kilo Kish.
On a related note, HBO recently announced that it will host “The Epic Fan Experience” at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on March 20. The event will feature displays of different props and costumes from the show and an advanced screening of the fourth season’s premiere episode. Tickets to the event will be available this Thursday.
