Metallica gave Detroit fans a huge surprise at the Orion Music + More festival this past Saturday (June 8) when they took the stage under the assumed name ‘deehan’. Die-hard fans of the non-existent band certainly weren’t disappointed when Metallica took the 4.30 pm time slot instead and played their 1983 album ‘Kill’Em All’ in its entirety. The small crowd at the Van Damage Inc. side stage quickly grew as fans started sprinting towards the stage just seconds after the first notes of “Hit the Lights” rang out.
For those of you wondering, ‘deehaan’ wasn’t just a name Metallica picked out of a hat. It’s the last name of the actor Dane Dehaan who stars in their upcoming film “Metallica Through the Never”.
Metallica followed up their Saturday stunt with a powerful two-hour set of the classics to close out the 2013 festival.
