The NBA’s 63rd All-Star weekend will boast an impressive lineup of musical performances, featuring Pharrell Williams, Kendrick Lamar and Janelle Monae. Kendrick Lamar is slated to perform before Saturday night’s slam dunk contest. The Compton emcee seems to be everywhere these days: the Grammys, SNL, Super Bowl weekend and now the NBA All-Star weekend.
Pharrell, Kendrick and Janelle Monae On Tap for All-Star Game
Pharrell Williams and “surprise chart-topping musical guests” will open the game Sunday night. For some reason, a couple of French robots come to mind here, unless Skateboard P opts for Robin Thicke and his “Blurred Lines.” Let’s just hope we “Get Lucky” with the former.
Handling the big game’s halftime show is Janelle Monae, who will get a little help from Trombone Shorty, Dr. John and Earth, Wind & Fire. Finally, a major American sporting event has figured out a way to appeal to all of its audience. This performance should have a little something for everyone.
