Pharrell Williams has seemingly mastered the art of writing infectious, inescapable pop songs. His song “Happy” has become one of the most ubiquitous feel-good tracks of the past decade. Saturday, Williams took his world-domination tour to the SNL stage and delivered strong performances of “Happy” and “Marilyn Monroe” from his recent album, GIRLS.

Williams had a bunch of kids onstage dancing along to his “Happy” performance. Later, he was joined by composer Hans Zimmer for “Marilyn Monroe.” In addition to being the show’s musical guest, Williams appeared in a sketch where host Anna Kendrick and Vanessa Bayer audition to be his backup singers. The sketch also takes a few jabs at Williams’ omnipresent Buffalo hat. Watch both performances and the backup singer sketch below.
