Pussy Riot’s Nadya Tolokonnikova and Masha Alyokhina on ‘Colbert Report’

Pussy Riot’s Nadya Tolokonnikova and Masha Alyokhina–the Russian punk rockers turned political prisoners–stopped by Comedy Central’s Colbert Report last night. From the start of the interview, it was apparent that prison had not ruined Tolokonnikova and Alyokhina’s sense of humor. Stephen Colbert often plays his interview guests as the “straight man,” but the Pussy Riot girls had a witty response to everything Colbert threw their way.

Pussy Riot Sits Down With Stephen Colbert

When asked what they did to get thrown in jail, the duo’s translator responded with, “We sang a fun song in a church.” Pussy Riot will be at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn tonight for Amnesty International’s”Bringing Human Rights Back Home” concert (cheap tickets here) The event will also feature performances from the Flaming Lips, Imagine Dragons, Lauryn Hill and more.
