San Diego Comic-Con 2015: By The Numbers

If you’re a fan of superheroes, zombies, or sci-fi, you know that San Diego Comic-Con 2015 is coming up this weekend. Comic-Con has been around for 45 years, starting as a small event geared solely towards comic and sci-fi fans, and ballooning into one of the most-attended entertainment events in America. The very first Comic-Con in 1970 only drew a scant 300 attendees, but at Comic-Con 2015, 130,000 fans are gathering to see Lucasfilm show off a behind-the-scenes look at the long-awaited Star Wars: The Force Awakens and scope out footage from DC Comics’ explosive Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. So how did a fan-organized convention that initially only drew 300 attendees end up becoming a cultural juggernaut? Read on and find out.
