Watch St. Vincent Visit ‘The Colbert Report’

In support of her recently released self-titled album, “art-rocker” St. Vincent–a.k.a. Annie Clark–paid a visit to the Colbert Report last night. Per usual, the interview with Colbert was full of quips and witty asides. The comedic highlight of the interview was Colbert asking, “Do I enjoy your music, or do I have to ‘get it?'” This is an age-old question for many indie artists, and Clark managed to give an earnest answer without sounding too pretentious.

St. Vincent Gets Digital On ‘Colbert Report’

After asking if he can call her Vinny, Colbert touches on Clark’s Smithsonian 2013 American Ingenuity Award for Performing Arts and her large Catholic family. Clark also explains the idea of “techno-shamanism” which is a central theme of her new album. Later in the show, Clark performed album tracks “Digital Witness” and “Birth In Reverse.”

St. Vincent will perform at New York City’s Terminal 5 tonight! You can snag cheap tickets for the show (and the rest of the tour) at or through the Rukkus iPhone app.
