Listen: Wye Oak Debut New Single, ‘Glory,’ Set Tour Dates

Wye Oak, the fuzzy-rock duo from Baltimore, are preparing to release the follow-up LP to 2011’s acclaimed Civilian. Judging by the solemn sputtering of their new single, “Glory,” it appears the band is injecting some new electronic elements into their sound. Dive in, have a listen, and check their tour details.

Wye Oak Return with New Single

Wye Oak could have easily jumped right into their 4th album to capitalize on the success of Civilian, yet the duo chose the high road—a more methodical route. Civlian was the cataclysmic sound of a band reaching a point they’d been building towards since their inception, really; understandably, the next step likely wasn’t clear.

After roughly 3 years, the signature washed-out guitars and brooding voice of lead singer Jenn Wasner are still present, but now they’re backed by the eerie sound of a synth that’s about to self-destruct.

The new album, Shriek, drops April 29th on Merge. Have a listen to “Glory” and grab tickets to a show below.
