For this third preseason matchup, rookie QB Marcus Mariota and the Tennessee Titans travel to Kansas City to take on Jamaal Charles and the Chiefs. The Chiefs come into this game with a 2-0 record in the preseason and as the Titans come in with a 1-1 record. The third preseason game is often a tune up game for all NFL teams as a brief view of how the regular season will start with the starters playing the majority of the game. Actio begins with a 29 yard touchdown pass from Alex Smith to newly acquired Jeremy Maclin and a missed extra point by Chiefs' Cairo Santos. Later in the first quarter, Santos puts in a 21 yard field goal to put the Chiefs up 9-0. Action picks up in the second quarter as the Chiefs stay hot and Alex Smith hits Travis Kelce for an 8 yard touchdown that is followed up by a two point conversion. In the second half the scoring picks up with a Santos field goal from 22 yards. Heading into the fourth quarter Chiefs third string QB Aaron Murray finds Fred Williams for a 29 yard touchdown. With the Chiefs defense holding strong, they do not allow another point the rest of the game. And before the end of regulation, Murray finds Williams again for a 4 yard touchdown which draws to the end of the game with a final score of 34-10.

September 7, 2014 Arrowhead Stadium (Kansas City, MO)

The 2014 kicks off for the Kansas City Chiefs as they take on the Tennessee Titans. The Chiefs look to continue their success from last season and try to further themselves into the playoffs. After a scoreless first quarter scoring begins in second quarter with a Cairo Santos 35 yard field goal. The Titans fire back with a touchdown pass from Jake Locker to Delanie walker for 5 yard and right before the end of the quarter a Ryan Succop field goal from 36 yards. Coming out at half the Titans stay hot as they score another touchdown from a 6 yard Locker pass to Kendall Wright and toward the end of the third quarter another Succop field goal from 31 yards making it a 20-3 game heading into the fourth quarter with the Titans up big. Early in the fourth the Titans add another field goal from Succop from 46 yards out. The Chiefs fire back with their first touchdown of the season on an Alex Smith pass to Anthony Fasano from 5 yards. The Titans offense is back on the field as they make another field goal from 47 yards out and the game ends with a 26-10 win from the Titans as they hand the Chiefs their first loss of the season.
