Hunter Hayes Details

Hunter Hayes Bio

Hunter Hayes is one of the music industry’s most exciting young stars. His pop-infused country style has helped convert fans all over the United States and the world, making his albums and concert tickets bestsellers. For a young performer, Hayes already boasts a laundry list of accomplishments: he’s the youngest male artist ever to hit the top of the country charts, and his crossover potential has also helped him crack the Billboard Hot 100 chart. And since Hayes is still only in his mid-20s, his legions of fans can expect him to continue cranking out the hits for a long time to come.

Of course, as young as he is, Hayes hasn’t always been a superstar. Before Hunter Hayes tickets and records were hot sellers, Hayes was a young kid with a passion for making music and a small-time career performing on daytime TV shows and in small venues. Hayes’ time as a child performer helped set the stage for his huge breakout later in life. In fact, despite his youth, Hayes has put a lot of time and work into getting this far in the music industry.

Hunter Easton Hayes was born on September 9, 1991 in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. His parents had Cajun ancestry, and Hayes grew up singing songs in both English and French. That mixture of languages gave him a uniquely Louisiana childhood – even as the early start to his career began taking him far from his childhood home, Hayes always retained his country roots.

Hayes had his first exposure to music at just two years old, when his grandmother gave him an accordion as a gift. He took to music right away, and by age four, he had clear talent. His parents started bringing him to local TV studios to perform, and soon Hayes had made it to the national TV circuit. He performed for daytime TV shows like Maury and the Rosie O’Donnell Show. He sang on the Nickelodeon show Figure it Out. When Hayes was still just a toddler, he was already singing for huge audiences – albeit through the television instead of on stage at the huge music venues he’d later sell out.

Hayes’ precocious talent for singing gave him the opportunity to meet major celebrities. He got his first guitar at age 6 from Hollywood star Robert Duvall, and at age 7 he got the chance to perform for President Bill Clinton on the White House lawn. It was a remarkable start to a remarkable career.

By 13, Hayes was a serious performer. He made an appearance on America’s Most Talented Kids, where he performed a country song: Hank Williams’ “Hey Good Lookin’.”

Hayes had real talent. Despite his youth, he was ready to break into a more serious music career. To that end, he moved to Nashville in 2008. In Nashville, the world capital of country music, he hoped to get noticed and sign a major-label deal.

Hayes was already a talented musician, but in Nashville, he honed his abilities as a songwriter. In 2010, he co-wrote the song “Play,” which Rascal Flatts performed on their album Nothing Like This. Hayes’ songwriting talents would later become a major part of his music and his image: he still writes or co-writes the overwhelming majority of the songs that he records and performs.

Helping Rascal Flatts was nice, but Hunter Hayes would soon get the chance to record an album of his own. The same year that he wrote “Play,” Atlantic Nashville Records came calling. They’d heard about the child star that had grown into a serious musical talent. Hayes signed his first major-label deal and set about working on his solo material.

In 2011, Hayes released his first album. Titled simply Hunter Hayes, it included the singles “Storm Warning,” “Wanted, and “Somebody’s Heartbreak.” All of the songs did well – particularly “Wanted,” which topped the country charts. The success of “Wanted” made Hayes the youngest male artist to ever reach the top of the country charts. The single went platinum, and a star was born.

Also in 2011, Hayes began touring to build his fan base. Fans who bought Hunter Hayes tickets that year got the first chance to see Hayes on stage since his old days as a child performer. Hayes wasn’t always the headliner in those days – he supported superstars like Taylor Swift, whose tour he joined for a while in 2011. It was an appropriate pairing: like Swift, Hayes hoped to become a country star and crossover success. In 2012, Hayes toured with Rascal Flatts. The extensive touring with established stars helped expand Hayes’ already fast-growing fan base.

By 2013, Hunter Hayes was a true superstar. He was nominated for three Grammys, including Best New Artist. That achievement was made even sweeter by the fact that Hayes became the youngest person ever nominated in each of the three categories. He won CMT awards and did more touring. After years as a small-time child performer, Hunter Hayes had become the music world’s youngest superstar.

Hayes followed up his successful first album with Storyline (2014). Its lead single, “Invisible,” peaked at number 4 on the country charts. 2014 was also a huge year for Hunter Hayes’ live performances. Hayes played “Invisible” live at the Grammys, and set new records for touring: he shattered the Flaming Lips’ record for most concerts played in different cities in a 24-hour span.

Hayes is at the height of his powers, but he isn’t done. His new album, The 21 Project, is due out in 2015. Hayes is also headlining his sixth tour in support of the new album, giving fans another chance to get their hands on Hunter Hayes tickets.

Hayes is still incredibly young for a superstar, but he’s already proven that he’s a force to be reckoned with in the country music scene and in the industry at large. His blend of country vibes with catchy pop songwriting has helped him rise to the top of country charts and crack into mainstream pop radio. The future looks bright for country music’s fastest rising crossover star.
