Jason Derulo Details

Jason Derulo

Jason Joel Desrouleaux, more commonly known as Jason Derulo, knew from a young age he wanted to be a musician. His fierce determination landed him at the top of rap and pop charts and Derulo has quickly become one of the most recognizable figures in the music industry today. Fans can expect to see great things from him as he collaborates with colleagues and produces increasingly great music.

From a young age Jason Derulo knew he wanted to be a musician, and focused all of his time and attention on making that dream a reality. While attending performing arts schools, Derulo took a special interest in composition, writing his first song at the age of eight. As his skills increased, musicians began to take notice. As a teenage, Derulo wrote “Bossy” for Birdman, and was featured on the track, which showcased his vocal skills. After the release of “Bossy” Jason Derulo was contacted by Danity Kane, Lil Wayne, Diddy, and Sean Kingston to write tracks for their albums.

As he wrapped up his time at performing arts schools, and perfecting his singing, composing, dancing, and even acting skills, Derulo won the grand prize on the 2006 season of Showtime At The Apollo which resulted in recording contracts with Warner Bros Records and Beluga Heights Records. In 2009 Derulo released his first single “Whatcha Say” which hit No. 1 in November of that year. Derulo released his self-titled debut album in March 2010, and singles “Ridin’ Solo” and “In My Head” both broke top 10. As he promoted the album he also collaborated with fellow artists including Demi Lovato.

After the release of his second album in 2011, Derulo announced a UK tour for 2012, which had to be cancelled due to a fractured vertebrae Derulo suffered while rehearsing for the tour. While recovering Derulo made an appearance on American Idol announcing a contest in which a fan would finish the lyrics to one of his songs and that his first post-injury performance would be for the shows season finale. Later that year, Derulo announced the formation of his record label, Future History, with the signing of Australian singer songwriter Arlene Zelina.

In 2013 Derulo announced the released his third album Tattoos through Twitter after releasing hit single “The Other Side”. Prior to the release of the album in September, Derulo’s single “Talk Dirty” was released internationally and reached the No. 3 spot on Billboard’s Top 100. 6 months after the release of Tattoos Derulo announced the release of his fourth album Talk Dirty which would feature 7 reworked songs from the previous album as well as 4 new songs.

In 2015 it was announced that Derulo was chosen to be a judge on the hit television show So You Think You Can Dance. In March of that year Derulo announced his next album Everything is 4 and released the singles “Cheyanne” and “Naked” as well as “Want To Want Me”, which became the most added song in the history of Top 40 radio. Everything is 4 is set to be released in June, 2016 with the tour having already begun. Jason Derulo is known for his extreme talent that he has cultivated his whole life. His shows are guaranteed to be a good time, with danceable songs and singable lyrics. Here at Rukkus, we can’t wait to see what else this young superstar has in store!
