Reba McEntire Bio and Ticket Information

Reba Nell McEntire is an American singer, songwriter and actress. Born on March 28th, 1955, in McAlester, Oklahoma, she is the third of four children of Clark Vincent McEntire and Jacqueline (Smith) McEntire. The McEntire home was a very musically-influenced household. Reba’ mother had aspired to be a singer but never pursued her dream, and thus, encouraged her children to sing from a young age.

In high school, Reba started the Kiowa High School Cowboy Band, along with her siblings Pake and Susie. In 1971, the band recorded a single, "The Ballad of John McEntire," in tribute to their grandfather. The single was released through a small label called Boss Records and sold 1,000 copies. Into the 1970’s, Reba and her siblings re-formed their trio with a new name, The Singing McEntires, which performed at rodeos. In addition to the band, Reba participated in talent shows on her own.

In 1974, Reba graduated from high school and went on to attend Southeastern Oklahoma State University. In December 1974, Reba sang the “Star Spangled Banner” at the National Rodeo Finals in Oklahoma City. The performance led to Reba’s discovery by country star Red Steagall, who invited Reba to travel to Nashville to record some demos for his company. Steagall successfully landed her a recording deal with Mercury records in 1975.

In January 1976, Reba recorded her first single in Nashville titled "I Don't Want to Be a One Night Stand.” The song reached No. 88 on the Billboard Country Singles chart. Later in September, she released, "(There's Nothing Like the Love) Between a Woman and a Man,” which topped out at No. 86. Her third single, "Glad I Waited Just for You," hit No. 88. In 1977, she released her self-titled debut album through Mercury Records.

McEntire’s second album, Out of a Dream, was released in 1979 and featured "Sweet Dreams," a Patsy Cline cover that became McEntire's first Top 20 hit. The song reached No. 19 on the Billboard Country chart. In 1980, she released her third album Feel the Fire. She made the Top 10 on the charts with her single “You Lift Me Up (To Heaven).”

In September of 1981, McEntire's fourth album, Heart to Heart, was released and was her first album to chart the Billboard Top Country Albums list at No. 2. "Today All Over Again," the lead single off the album, became a Top Five country hit.

Unlimited, her fifth album, was released in 1982. It produced her first back-to-back Billboard No. 1 singles, "Can't Even Get the Blues" and "You're the First Time I've Thought About Leaving." McEntire announced her departure from Mercury Records shortly after the release of her sixth album, Behind the Scene.

Reba signed with MCA Nashville Records. In 1984, she released her seventh studio album, Just a Little Love. The album’s lead single “Just a Little Love,” was a Top Five hit. Citing a disappointment with her previous “pop” sound, Reba took a firm rein on her next project. Her hard work paid off when Reba released the aptly-named album, My Kind of Country in 1984. The album hit No. 13 on the Top Country Albums charts and with two No. 1 singles, "How Blue," and "Somebody Should Leave.” That year she also received her first award, the Country Music Association Awards’ Female Vocalist of the Year.

In 1985, she released her third album through MCA, Have I Got a Deal for You. “Only in My Mind” reached the No. 5 on the Billboard Country chart. In February 1986, McEntire released Whoever's in New England. The title track reached No. 1 on the Billboard Country chart and won a Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance. The album certified gold by the RIAA, and later went platinum. McEntire won Entertainer of the Year from the Country Music Association.

McEntire released the album, What Am I Gonna Do About You, in 1986. The lead single became a No. 1 hit along with "One Promise Too Late." The following year, Reba released her first compilation album, Greatest Hits. It certified platinum and eventually went triple-platinum.

The Last One to Know, an album heavily inspired by her painful divorce, was released in 1987. The title track from the release was a No. 1 single. At the end of that year, McEntire released Merry Christmas to You. It sold two million copies in the United States and went platinum.

Her thirteenth album, Reba, was released in 1988. It reached No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums and remained there for six weeks. She released Sweet Sixteen in May 1989. It spent sixteen weeks (ironically) at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. After the birth of her son in 1990, Reba released an album Rumor Has It, that eventually went triple platinum.

A tragic airplane accident happened in 1990. Reba dedicated her 1991 album For My Broken Heart to her road band. Seven members of the band, along with her road manager, and two pilots, were killed in a small-plane crash next Mexico. Reba, two members of the band, and the road crew were scheduled to take a second flight later in the day. The album peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and reached No. 13 on the Billboard 200. "If I Had Only Known," was included in the soundtrack to a 1994 film entitled 8 Seconds.

Throughout the 90’s, Reba reached even more success with six albums; It’s Your Call (1992), Read My Mind (1994), Starting Over (1995), What If It’s You (1996), If You See Him (1998) and So Good Together (1999).

In 2001, McEntire released another compilation, Greatest Hits Vol. 3: I'm a Survivor. The album helped Reba claim her third gold certification from the RIAA. With this, she became the most certified female country artist in music history.

In November of 2003, her twenty-third studio album, Room to Breathe, was released. The album skyrocketed to No. 4 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and No. 25 on the Billboard 200. In 2005, she released the compilation Reba 1's featuring all thirty-three of her No. 1 hits throughout her career. The album shot to No. 3 on the Top Country Albums chart and No. 12 on the Billboard 200.

In 2007, McEntire received two CMA nominations for Female Vocalist of the Year and Vocal Event of the Year. Those two nominations, another in 2008, and two more in 2009, brought her total lifetime nominations to a whopping forty-eight (48). McEntire became the most-nominated female artist in the entire history of the CMA Awards. Also in 2007, Reba released Reba: Duets, an album featuring ten tracks with other artists including Kenny Chesney, LeAnn Rimes, Trisha Yearwood, Carole King, and Justin Timberlake.

In November of 2010, Reba released an album through Valory Music Group titled All The Woman I Am and supported it with a tour, inviting The Band Perry, Steel Magnolia, and Eden’s Edge as openers.

McEntire was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame on May 22nd, 2011, by mega-star Dolly Parton. The ceremony took place at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, Tennessee.

A new single, "Going Out Like That," was released on January 6th, 2015. It became the lead-off single to Love Somebody, McEntire's twenty-seventh studio album..
