The EnergySolutions Arena currently holds a capacity of just under 20,000 for basketball games, and can fit 20,000+ for concerts held in the round. In 2008, almost 20% of 240 NBA players polled said that EnergySolutions Arena was one of the hardest places to play for visiting teams in the NBA with an average sound level of almost 100 decibels, close to the noise generated by a jet takeoff.

Utah Jazz Overview

Utah Jazz Franchise History

There was some jazz in the air in basketball arenas when this franchise took the floor for the first time in 1974, but the squad didn't do it in their current location of Utah. Instead it was New Orleans that first played the jazz and the team did its work on the basketball floor there before packing up shop and heading for Utah in 1979. There were no playoffs to be had for this franchise in its first nine seasons on the hardwood, but the struggles were to be expected in the overly competitive NBA.

But once the Jazz did make it into the post-season, the squad certainly made it count. In fact, Utah would find their way into the playoffs for 19 straight seasons, so that definitely helped alleviate any fears that the fans had of this Jazz franchise never being successful. Three appearances in the Conference Semifinals in the mid-80s was just the start for the Jazz, as the organization then geared it up a notch and started making it to Conference Finals.

Those first two Conference Finals spots came in 1991 and 1993 when the Jazz were clearly on a mission to capture an NBA crown for the first time in their existence. Unfortunately the Blazers and Rockets had other ideas and advanced instead, but hey at least Utah was on the right track towards getting that championship trophy in their case at some point. Another conference semis duel would happen in 1996 with the SuperSonics, but yet again the Jazz were left empty-handed when all was said and done.

Utah would make its big move in 1997 when it would cruise all the way to its first NBA Finals appearance and square off with Michael Jordan and the ridiculously talented Chicago Bulls. It would be the Chicago-based hardwood squad that would go home with the gold, however, the Jazz had finally found some confidence in their quest for an NBA title. This franchise would return to try and get their vengeance on MJ and his team the next year, but once again, the greatest player to eve grace the court was too much for the Jazz.

The Jazz haven't been able to reach those same type of heights since those glory days, and the best the team has been able to do is reach the Conference Finals in 2007. But that didn't exactly go in Utah's favor thanks to a five-game thumping from the San Antonio Spurs.

Utah Jazz Marquee Players

If you're going to talk about the greats that have worn a Utah Jazz uniform over the years, you're going to have to begin with John Stockton and Karl Malone.

These two basketball icons changed the face of the Jazz organization thanks to their unbelievable chemistry on the court. The duo always knew where they were on the hardwood and made an incredible impact on a Jazz franchise that certainly needed it.

Of course, you'd also have to mention the Jazz contributions of Jeff Hornacek, who was the ultimate complimentary player to those two and provided a shooting touch that few have seen before in the league.

The Jazz also had Pete Maravich in uniform in the New Orleans days, so plenty of phenomenal talents have made their way through this franchise.

Utah Jazz Conference and NBA Titles

The NBA title is still missing for the Jazz at this point in their history, with the club only having two chances at it. Unfortunately, those two chances came when Michael Jordan was in the league, so that didn't help matters for Utah.

The Jazz racked up conference titles in those two Finals trips, but they haven't had any others to date. However, Utah has been able to find success when it comes to divisional crowns, with the organization managing eight titles in that specific category.

But until the Jazz can win the league's biggest title, those crowns won't be all that impressive to their awesome supporters.

Utah Jazz Venue Information

EnergySolutions Arena is the host of Jazz home games these days, and Utah has been doing its wizardry on the hardwood in the arena since 1991. The venue started off its ride as the Delta Center before transitioning to the new name 15 years later.

The venue did gain some honor by being included in the 2002 Winter Olympics, so people definitely know about this arena.

The size of the arena is pretty incredible, as the Jazz can pack in nearly 20,000 raucous fans for all of their home games. That certainly gives Utah quite the advantage when the visitors come to town in hopes of stealing away a victory.

And of course, the arena has some special attractions outside for Jazz fans to behold, as statues of Malone and Stockton sit near the arena.

Utah Jazz 2014-2015 Season Recap

The 2013-2014 season just did not go well at all for the Jazz, as the squad was only able to reach the 25-win mark on the year. That was the lowest total for this franchise since it struggled to just 24 wins during the 1979-1980 campaign.

So clearly Jazz fans were hoping to stay away from a repeat in the new year, and thankfully Utah was able to improve its record quite a bit. A 38-44 mark was not enough to get into the playoffs in the wildly competitive Western Conference, but it was much better than sitting at the bottom of the Pacific Division and breaking records of the wrong fashion.

It was Gordon Hayward that led the team in the points department throughout the year, but the Jazz seemed to find a rhythm and gain some much-needed confidence after the awful campaign a year earlier. Derrick Favors and Alec Burks were also major contributors that did their best to help propel the Jazz forward.

If this Utah squad can continue to find the same type of balance next season, perhaps it will be able to start the ascent towards becoming a playoff contender once again.
